In the midst of working on this, I attended a holiday time dinner party and while there was thumbing through a copy of Rolling Stone magazine. In it was the last interview of John Lennon dated Friday, December 5th, 1980, three days before he was killed and here, 30 years, to the day later, I read it.
John Lennon: "...well, I've found out for me personally – not for the whole world – that I am responsible for me, as well as for them. I am part of them. There's no separation: We're all one, so in that respect I look at it all and think, "Ah, I have to deal with me again in that way. What is real? What is the illusion I'm living or not living?" And I have to deal with it every day. The layers of the onion."
Interviewer: “Looking through the glass onion.”
John: “That’s what it’s about, isn’t it?
I made this time-lapse video of the development of the painting "The Glass Onion." Enjoy.
I'd love to hear from you. Send me a message here and
I'll do my best to get back to you as soon as I can.
